Glock Backplate Fit Guide: Every Model and Generation

Every Glock slide back plate we make is a real replacement part. It swaps in for the factory slide cover plate on the back of your slide. Glock uses a few different plate sizes across its lineup, so the only thing you need to know before ordering is which size your pistol takes. We don't make backplates for the Glock 44, 47 or 49 right now.

Standard vs. Gen 6 and Glock V

Our original standard backplate fits Gen 1 through Gen 5 pistols, which covers most Glocks in use today. Gen 6 and V pistols need their own standard plate, so we machine a separate version for them. If you have a Gen 6 or a V model, choose Glock (Gen 6 or V) in the Glock Model dropdown. A Gen 1 to Gen 5 plate will not fit those slides, and the Gen 6 / V plate will not fit older ones.

Compact and Glock 42

The Glock 43, 43X and 48, including the MOS versions, share one compact plate, so a 43X backplate and a 48 backplate are the same part. The Glock 42 is smaller still and has its own size. Both fit every generation of those models.

Magazine base plates

Our custom Glock magazine base plates come in three fits:

  • Double stack 9mm and .40: Glock 17, 17L, 19, 19X, 22, 23, 24, 26, 27, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 37, 38, 39, 45, 47
  • Glock 43X and 48
  • 10mm and .45 ACP: Glock 20, 20SF, 21, 21SF, 29, 29SF, 30, 30S, 30SF, 40, 41

They fit factory Glock magazines. They do not fit Magpul PMags.

Materials and engraving

Slide backplates come in aluminum or brass. Magazine base plates come in aluminum, with brass coming soon. Every plate is CNC machined and laser engraved in house in El Paso, Texas. CNC engraving is coming soon.

Fit questions

Does a Gen 5 backplate fit a Gen 3 or Gen 4 Glock?

Yes. Our Standard Gen 1 to Gen 5 backplate fits all five of those generations.

Will my Gen 5 backplate fit a Gen 6 or Glock V?

No. Choose Glock (Gen 6 or V) in the Glock Model dropdown for those pistols.

Is the Glock 19X a standard or compact size?

Standard. The 19X takes the same plate as the Glock 17 and 19.

Do the Glock 43X and Glock 48 use the same backplate?

Yes. Both take our compact plate, along with the Glock 43.

Can I put my own design on it?

Yes. Upload your artwork right on the custom backplate page when you order. We accept PNG, JPG, JPEG, GIF, SVG and WebP files, and we send you a mockup to approve before we make it. Our guide on designing artwork for engraving explains what works best.

How long does it take, and what if it doesn't fit?

Laser engraved plates ship in 3 to 5 business days. Multicolor plates take 7 to 10 business days, as will CNC engraved plates once CNC engraving is available. Shipping is free on US orders of $50 and up, and every order comes with 30-day, no-questions-asked returns.
